PE&RC Writing week 

Monday 9 - Friday 13 December 2024 

 

Scope

This week provides PhDs, postdocs and other academics space and time to focus on the writing of a paper or a thesis chapter. Hence it is meant for those individuals who are in the process of writing a paper or thesis chapter. 

The five days will be structured in writing and possible feedback sessions and we will have one or two workshops on effective writing and what to pay attention to. Besides the (intensive) sessions there will also be time for relaxation during the day. A detailed programme will follow soon. 

Programme

Monday morning will be dedicated to the workshop about typical writing pitfalls such as procrastination, perfectionism, and information selection. The participants learn effective strategies for the different phases of the writing process (prepare, write, revise). Attention is also paid to dealing with feedback and managing the feedback you receive, and how to reflect on your writing. You will also have the opportunity to work 1-1 with the lecturer. The rest of the week will be dedicated to writing and feedback sessions.

* The fee includes coffee/tea breaks, breakfast, lunch and dinner. 

Note:

  • If you need an invoice to complete your payment, please send an email to office.pe@wur.nl, including ALL relevant details that should be mentioned on the invoice (e.g., purchase order no., specific addresses, attendees, etc.).
  • Please make sure that your payment is arranged within two weeks after your registration.
  • It is the participant's responsibility to make sure that the payment received correct and in time.
Cancellation conditions: 

•    Up to 4 (four) weeks prior to the start of the course, cancellation is free of charge.
•    Up to 2 (two) weeks prior to the start of the course, 50% of the participation fee will be charged. 
•    In case of cancellation within two weeks prior to the start of the course or no show, 100% of the participation fee will be charged.

NOTE: If you want to cancel your registration, ALWAYS inform us. Do not assume that by NOT PAYING your participation fee, your registration is automatically cancelled, as it isn't (and do note that you will be kept to the cancellation conditions).
