At PE&RC, we highly value postdocs. Hence, PE&RC has developed a postdoc policy, which aims at improving the position of postdocs in the organisation, increasing awareness among postdocs, and facilitating postdoc career development. If you are a postdoc in one of the PE&RC affiliated institutes or research groups, but you are not registered with us yet, we ask you to register as this offers you a number of advantages (note that this is free of charge).

Registered PE&RC Postdocs:

  • Will be informed about activities specifically aimed at postdocs;
  • Can participate in training activities aimed at early stage researchers (often for a reduced fee);
  • Can apply for specific PE&RC funding;
  • Can participate in activities to support them as temporary employees in their (career) development;
  • Receive the monthly PE&RC newsletter, including upcoming PE&RC activities, job opportunities, and other relevant informatio

If you wish to register as a PE&RC Postdoc, please download the PE&RC Postdoc Registration Form and submit this to PE&RC Office.

The PE&RC Postdoc Career Development Plan
Besides registering at PE&RC we offer postdocs a Postdoc Career Development Plan (PCDP). This document allows the postdoc to discuss and agree with PI's about the deliverables, outputs of the postdoc position, the personal development the postdoc wants to reach during the postdoc that will accordingly allow more a smooth step to the next phase of their career. Click HERE for the PCDP form. This form will also be discussed during the introduction meeting.

  • Wageningen Graduate Schools (WGS) activities
    WGS offers a broad range of general skills and competence courses and career training for PhDs and postdocs. These courses are open to all postdocs, but if you are registered as a PE&RC Postdoc, the reduced course fee generally applies to you.
  • Career Development for Postdocs: Science and the Alternatives
    WGS training specifically for postdocs in which via a reflective process postdocs determine their career ambitions (in or outside academia) and accordingly formalise a plan of action. This course is open to all postdocs, but if you are registered as a PE&RC Postdoc, the reduced course fee applies to you.
  • Entrepreneurship in and outside Science
    This workshop focusses on whether participants have entrepreneurial skills, if they can be developed and whether the participant has the entrepreneurial drive. Accordingly the workshop looks at the different manifestations of intra/entrepreneurship in academia, private companies or in an start-up context. Finally we will progress to opportunity recognition and the art of business modelling, where we also use your own research as building material for creating opportunities

Besides organising a suit of activities PE&RC also offers its members the possibility of confidential advice when they are confronted with work-related challenges. This applies to PhD's, postdocs and staff. Also know that there are several independent bodies within universities that give confidential advice/support with respect to (scientific) integrity, health and well-being.

When you would be looking from support please consult your university website. Note that we are in the process of making an overview of this information for all associated universities in PE&RC.

When you would want such support please contact one of our Programme coordinators.
